How many of us today have had the kind of enthusiastic spirit of giving that was expressed by the people of the New Testament church?  Are we so caught up with excitement of having the resources and the opportunity to give, that we plead with the church for the privilege to give more?”  If answered honestly, most of us would have to say no.  We believe that we should be publicly thanked and have our names engraved on a plaque in the sanctuary for just paying our tithes—most of the time. We fail to acknowledge that it is only by God’s grace that we have anything to give, and have the mind (the willingness) to give. It’s not about how much or how little we have. It’s how much grace we’ve received from God that governs and guides our giving.  When we have the privilege of impacting the lives of others by what we give, we must know that it is by God’s grace, and His grace alone, that it was possible. We should not overly concern ourselves with what is being done with what we give.  In addition, we need to remember that ministry cost.
